Boarding School and Education at the CLC
Thai Teenage Project
The Thai Teenage project is based at The Temple of Dawn where a school has been setup to serve as a boarding school for poor and disadvantaged teenagers from Northern Thailand. Accommodation, meals and education are provided for all students free of charge. The boarding school was first opened in 2006 and currently there are 13 girls and 7 boys attending the school. The girls learn assistant nursing and the boys are taught electronics.
"All students are guaranteed employment following the completion of the CLC (Community learning Centre) certificate program."

In addition to CLC certificate programs the students are also taught English by qualified English teachers In a country that receives so much income from tourism and where knowledge of english can double your salary, surprisingly few teenagers speak it. So this can be an invaluable skill for the students to have. The boarding school is the first of its kind in Thailand and has been endorsed by the JWS foundation from the United States. Unesco and Her majesty the Queen of of Thailand.
The Thai Teenage project is dedicated to assisting these vulnerable teens before they are targeted for the sex trade, and through the provision of a proper education, equip them with the skills they need to circumvent and transcend this potential disastrous life path.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. While there is no doubt that the young people already caught up in the cycle of human trafficking need help and support, the best long-term solution to human trafficking is to tackle the ‘supply’ problem at its source – in the villages and towns where so much of the ill-informed migration begins – and the problem of ‘demand’ at the destination, in the towns and cities where most of the exploitation takes place. The Thai Teenage project is dedicated to assisting these vulnerable teens before they are targeted, and through the provision of a proper education, equip them with the skills they need to circumvent and transcend this disastrous poverty induced life path.
